Linkup @ Lincoln is a mural series designed as concept for a public art project in Grand Rapids.
This idea was formed after researching the how the onslaught of 2020 affected people on global, community, and individual scales. I found that depression had increased by 25% globally, and that Grand Rapids was ranked among the most depressed metro cities in the US. Between the tragedies of the year saturating media, and restricted access to non-virtual human interaction; there was a spike in loneliness and hopelessness across groups.
The solution: a project inviting community members to actively come together on a volunteer basis, to work together in improving a common space while getting to know one another in a positive environment.
